Oxford - a fleeting glimpse

After the red, and black, and white

brash pomp

of the graduation ceremony,

the evening light

in the Indian restaurant

mellows the day’s triumphs,

to a gentle pink-mauve.

The guests’ hushed murmurs

ripple across the room,

filter through

the stuff of your

bright striped shawl;

nestle, burrow into its

lilac-blue, dusty-pink,

to embrace your shoulders,

your neck,

your forearms.
